A COMMUNITY WITHIN A DAY'S JOURNEY! We are called to be God's witnesses within a day's journey. El Salvador is an easy plane ride away, making this an ideal location for our "middle mission." The school for the deaf we serve needs our expertise and desires our long-term partnership. Environment: San Salvador is the largest, busiest town in El Salvador. It is also the capitol. El Salvador is not much different from other Latin countries; there are poverty and crime, but there are also pockets of wealth. The people are very friendly, and Americans can find many of the ammenities we are used to. The People: Because of the poverty in El Salvador, even a common fever in infancy can leave a person deaf for life due to lack of medicine. Having a deaf child is shameful to the parents - especially the fathers - so many deaf children don't even leave their homes. San Salvador, El Salvador: We have established a relationship with the only Christian school for the deaf in El Salvador. Our goal is to teach the teachers so they might be able to more effectivly teach their students.

GETTING CONNECTED... There are so many ways that you can help with this mission project. Here are a few examples: Pray for the teachers and students at the school for the deaf. Also pray for recovery after a devistating earthquake that ravaged the country. Go on a trip to El Salvador! Even if you don't feel you can teach something, the school can always use helpers.
