Respite

A Place to Serve the Community

Mount Olive’s respite events help to strengthen families with children who have special needs by giving the parents or caregivers a much-needed break on a regular basis. Volunteers help care for children during respite events.

Respite events provide an afternoon of fun activities. One or two volunteers are matched with a child to provide one-on-one quality care.

  • Mount Olive Respites are held 2-3 times a year on Saturdays 1-5PM.
  • Respite is for children with special needs ages 5-14 (functional age range).
  • Respite is also open to siblings of special needs kids.
  • Respite is open to anyone with a heart to reach special needs kids. You do not have to be a member of Mount Olive to volunteer.

For families with special needs children, you need to register in advance for respite events by contacting the respite coordinator or by calling the church office.

Special training is required for those that would like to volunteer to help. Contact the coordinator for details on when the next training will be held.
