Marriage Basics

Marriage is . . .

• The                           human to human relationship
  The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him" . . . The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man."
  Genesis 2:18, 23

• A                                     of Christ and his church
  This is a profound mystery--but I am talking about Christ and the church.
  Ephesians 5:32

• "Equally yoked"
  Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
  2 Corinthians 6:14

  "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

An Overlooked Marriage Basic:                                                                                  

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
Philippians 2:3
