Missions at Mount Olive

May 4, 2008

Missions in the local church begins with the words of Jesus:

Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:16-20

Practically, Missions ought to ask these 3 questions:

  1. How do I communicate in their language?

What is their speech, lifestyle, and purpose in life?

  2. How do I go to their level?

What is valuable to them? How can you relate to that?

  3. Ultimately, how do I connect them to the Gospel of Jesus?

Be willing to share Christ and how He has changed you!

The Framework for how we will do Missions in our Local Church

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

  1. Jerusalem (our backyard - Milpitas and surrounding cities)

  2. Judea (California-Nevada-Hawaii District area)

  3. Samaria (North America)

  4. Ends of the earth (Outside North America)
