In the sports world there is a running debate about the greatest player in the history of practically any sport. Whether its Michael Jordan or Lebron James in basketball, or Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus in golf, people make the case for their preferred athlete. Entertainers seem to have several opportunities to win awards for the best actor, director, writer, and more. Musicians have a similar number of award shows where they are celebrated. And we tend to compare ourselves to people we know because in our human nature, we long to be considered great.
Pastor’s wife has a shirt that says “Comparison is the Thief of Joy” and it’s true when we compare ourselves to other people. But there is one case in which comparison helps us learn and grow. When we compare Jesus to other things he stands in stark contrast to everything else! The Book of Hebrews describes how Jesus is the greatest. He is greater than angels, greater than people, and offers us the greatest gift we can ever know – salvation! During the month of October, 2021, we will have a study in Hebrews and look at sections of the book that tell us that Jesus is Greater Than everything else.
You’re encouraged to be in worship each week as we study and grow together.
Whether you attend in-person or virtually, join us to grow in Him who is greater.
