Can you believe it is 2025? When the clock stroked midnight on Tuesday, December 31, we ushered in a New Year. The change in the calendar motivates us to think about time in a way we often don’t at other points of the year. We think about the past, perhaps with a sense of nostalgia for what has gone by. We sang Auld Lang Syne even though we don’t know what the words mean. We think of the past year, considering things that have happened both good and not-so-good.
We also look forward into the New Year thinking about what we plan, hope, or even wish for the next 365 days. What expectations do you have for 2025? What goals, dreams, fears, concerns…?
Galatians 4:4-5
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, |
The time of waiting had been fulfilled when Jesus came. He entered into time as we know it, taking on humanity. He did so in order to redeem us. And to give us eternity. Any fears or concerns about our future we can bring to Him. With any hopes and dreams we may have; we can pray for guidance and blessing.
We all want to make 2025 a good year. Here’s a few resolutions to consider: 1) Follow Jesus – make this a year of being more dedicated than ever in your discipleship. 2) Be faithful – in worship, in giving, in serving, in obedience. 3) Pray – for all your concerns, for your family and friends, for your church… 4) Watch and Wait – look for what God is already doing and join Him; wait for His answers whenever you have questions; slow down and let God be in control.
