For the month of November, 2020, our message series is Saints in Light. This time in the church year we focus on the End of Time, the return of Jesus, and our identity as saints in the world. The month begins with All Saints Day, which this year falls on Sunday, November 1. That’s a day to remember those who have gone before us and their place in heaven around the throne of God (Rev. 7).
We also celebrate our identity as Saints, already a reality through faith in Jesus. His work on the cross, and the Spirit’s work bringing us to faith, make us saints – holy people in the sight of God. It’s not through anything we accomplish on our own, but a gift from God!
Through the gift of God’s grace we look forward to the return of Jesus. He will come like a thief in the night (1 Thess. 5:2). We need to be informed and encouraged about what is to come, so that we are prepared for His arrival. What does it take to be prepared? Simply remaining faithful. Keep your lamp burning (Matthew 25:1-13), watching and waiting for the coming of the Lord. Stand firm in the faith when trials and temptations surround us. Live lives of service to our neighbors and witness of His grace.
Be in worship (in person, or virtually) this month as we explore what it means to be saints of God, living in the light of the Gospel!
Blessings, saints!
