Since 1989, one of the major television networks has used this title for a public service announcement campaign. The first one was by Tom Brokaw and was about the education system in America. His introduction indicated that the series would continue to cover that subject matter. But in the years since, several other topics of interest have been included. Hosts have included broadcasters, politicians, actors and entertainers. Every installment seeks to share information that can be beneficial in the life of the hearer.
The first epistle of John will be the source for the messages during worship from April 25 through May 16. John uses the phrase “we know” several times in chapters 3-5. For example, 1 John 3:16 – By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. We often trust what we can see or experience. We might be skeptical about what someone tells us, especially if it sounds too good to be true. But by faith we do more than believe in Jesus. We KNOW who he is, what he has done and what it means for us. We can trust in Jesus because there were many witnesses of his resurrection. We can know his love, by the power of the Spirit at work within us.
The more you know Jesus, the more your life will look like his. We can live in the love that God gives us. We can do what he calls us to do. Because we know him and we are known by him. You are encouraged to be in worship each week to learn and grow. You are also encouraged to put what you know and believe into practice to the glory of God.
Let’s grow together – in the faith and knowledge of Jesus. Let’s let others know in whom we believe.
